Caring For Your Hamster

Young hamsters are very frightened of humans, and may bite when you first get them out. If this happens, dont be discouraged, for they quickly lose their timidity if they are handled properly from a young age. It is easy to make friends if you know the way.
1)Do not make sudden movements, but act calmly and gently.
2)Offer small bits of food and allow the hamster to settle down. Sooner or later, its curiosity will overcome its fear.
3)If it cowers away when you attempt to pick it up, do not panic.
4)Allow it to sniff your fingers and it will soon learn that you meant it no harm.
5)Do not put your hand above the hamster, they take this as a threat and may become more scared or even bite.
6)Try giving your hamster some titbits from your fingers, preferably big if you are scared of the hamster accidentally biting your fingers if you use a small piece of food.
