Webring Q & A's
If you have questions, comments or concerns about Gizmo's Webrings please read this page. If you still need assistance, please click on 'Millytilli' at the bottom of the page.

Q: What's a webring?
A: A webring is a group of sites that are all connected in a "ring". One reason for a ring is to chain like-interest sites together.
Another reason is that webrings are the "back doors" to the internet. Most search engines have programs that allow websites to pay for space (a listing). The webmaster pays a search engine a monthly fee and in return is listed. This is not a bad thing, but a site like Gizmo's is a free service and makes no money. Gizmo's allowance isn't big enough to pay for the service, so he uses webrings as a way for people to find his site.

Q: What is a ringmaster?
A: Just like the owner/manager of a website is the webmaster, the owner and manager of a webring is the ringmaster. The ringmaster has certain qualifications for a website to be accepted into the ring and the checklists vary depending on the ring. Of course, the first quality the site must possess is that the site fits the ring category (no zebra sites allowed in the rodents' ring).

Q: Why should net surfers care about webrings?
A: Sites like Gizmo's (sites just for entertainment/information) aren't likely to hit on a yahoo search, and if it does, it'll be on the last page. Gizmo could wallpaper every page with countless ads to raise money for search lists, (so this site would appear on yahoo) but that is not the goal of this site. If you like my site, please check out Gizmo's webrings and you are sure to find more "hidden" sites.

Q: What is webring.com?
A: Webring.com hosts over 60,000 rings with almost a million active sites. Gizmo is part of several rings there.

Q: What is The Rail?
A: Gizmo's in the "Animal Car" on The Rail. The Rail is similiar to webring.com and they tell their story on the website.

RingMasters: Some of you have special rules about where you want your fragment. Everything should be up to code, but if not, please e-mail me!
